A Texarkana, Texas man was sentenced on April 15 to more than 21 years in federal prison for drug trafficking violations, according to U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Timothy Brooks, age 46, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and received a sentence of 255 months from U.S. District Judge Robert W. Schroeder III.
Authorities said a federal investigation led them to search Brooks’ residence in May of 2024, where they found an ice chest containing nearly eleven kilograms of methamphetamine. Law enforcement also discovered a firearm, marijuana, other drugs, and various paraphernalia related to drug trafficking at the location.
Combs said this case is part of Operation Take Back America. “Operation Take Back America is a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime,” Combs said.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration; U.S. Postal Inspection Service; Texarkana Police Department; and Miller County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren Richards prosecuted it.
The official website reports that the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas prosecutes federal crimes and manages civil litigation across 43 counties in East Texas while supporting victims and witnesses through dedicated services and collaborating with agencies for community safety. The office employs about 100 staff members—including roughly fifty assistant U.S attorneys—and operates offices in Beaumont, Lufkin, Plano, Sherman, Texarkana and Tyler as part of its role within the United States Department of Justice.
