The State Bar of Texas Board of Directors voted on April 24 to select Steve Chiscano as chair-elect. Chiscano, who is a shareholder at Chiscano Hossa & Calve in San Antonio, will begin his term in June and serve as chair until June 2027.

Chiscano was previously elected in 2024 to represent District 10, Place 1 (Bexar County) on the board. The position gives him a leadership role within an organization that serves more than 100,000 active members across the state, according to the official website.

The Texas Bar Association operates under a board of directors elected by its members and supports legal professionals and communities throughout Texas. It promotes diversity, inclusion and equal access to justice to enhance cultural and social well-being, according to the official website.

In addition to supporting ethical standards for lawyers and advancing equal justice access, the association educates the public about the rule of law. Its administrative operations and member programs are managed through the Texas Bar Center, according to information from its official website.

The State Bar provides resources such as legal education programs and pro bono services for attorneys and communities statewide. As reported by its official website, it functions as the main professional body for lawyers in Texas.
