The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas announced on Mar. 27 that it filed 439 new cases against 440 individuals in immigration and border security matters between March 20 and March 26.

The announcement highlights ongoing efforts to address illegal entry, reentry after removal, human smuggling, firearms offenses, and other related crimes as part of Operation Take Back America. The operation is a nationwide initiative that aims to use all Department of Justice resources to counter illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney John G.E. Marck, the office filed 187 criminal complaints for illegal entry while another 236 people face charges of felony reentry after prior removal. Most individuals charged with felony reentry have previous convictions for narcotics offenses, violent crimes, or other immigration violations. Twelve people were charged with alleged involvement in human smuggling.

Six individuals were reportedly found in the McAllen area this week; one complaint alleges Honduran national Jose Roberto Serrano-Miranda was discovered near Relampago after being removed from the United States in September 2025 with prior convictions for domestic assault bodily injury and aggravated assault strangulation. Five others allegedly from Mexico had various prior convictions including drug offenses or driving under the influence; all six face up to twenty years if convicted of illegal reentry.

In addition to these cases, a man known as “Two-Face,” identified as Savin Seng—an admitted gang member from Cambodia—was sentenced to fifteen years for being an illegal alien in possession of a weapon linked to a local woman’s shooting death outside Victoria on Oct. 3, 2025. Authorities said Seng entered the United States illegally as a child and never held lawful status; he also faced an active arrest warrant from Los Angeles for another homicide case.

Federal law enforcement partners involved include Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI), ICE – Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), Border Patrol, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), FBI, U.S. Marshals Service, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms & Explosives (ATF), along with state and local agencies.

The Southern District covers forty-three counties across more than forty-four thousand square miles with offices located in Houston, Galveston, Corpus Christi, Laredo, McAllen and Brownsville according to its official website. The district employs over two hundred attorneys serving more than nine million residents as detailed by the office.

Former leaders have included Alamdar Hamdani (2022–2025) among others according to historical records. The office focuses on prosecuting federal crimes—including those outlined above—and handling civil cases involving government interests according to its mission statement.

Officials reminded that indictments or complaints are formal accusations only: “A defendant is presumed innocent unless convicted through due process of law.”
