A tragic incident at a cemetery has led to a legal battle that could result in significant financial consequences. Delia Alfaro has filed a lawsuit against Santa Teresa Cemetery, Inc., claiming negligence on the part of the cemetery led to her serious injuries. The complaint was filed on September 10, 2025, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas.
The case revolves around an unfortunate event that occurred on November 25, 2024. Delia Alfaro was attending a burial service at Santa Teresa Cemetery located at 912 Buschong Street in Harris County when she tripped over an unmarked drain pipe while making her way back from the gravesite. The plaintiff asserts that this hazardous condition was neither marked nor warned about, leading to her fall and subsequent serious bodily injuries. Alfaro’s petition accuses Santa Teresa Cemetery of failing to maintain safe premises and neglecting their duty to warn visitors of potential dangers. She claims that the cemetery allowed dangerous conditions to persist without taking corrective measures or providing adequate warnings, despite being aware or reasonably expected to be aware of such hazards.
In her lawsuit, Alfaro is seeking monetary relief exceeding $250,000 but less than $1,000,000 for damages including medical expenses, pain and suffering, physical impairment and disfigurement, lost wages, and loss of earning capacity. She also demands pre-judgment and post-judgment interest along with any other relief deemed appropriate by the court. Furthermore, Alfaro has requested a jury trial for this case.
Representing Delia Alfaro are attorneys Sarah Y-Nhi Huynh and Pavel “Paul” Savinov from Huynh Law PLLC based in Houston. Also involved is Hilda Leonor Sibrian from The Law Offices of Hilda L. Sibrian P.C., also located in Houston. The case is filed under Case ID 2025-67183 in the 113th Judicial District Court of Harris County.
