Christopher Gibson, a Black American man, has filed a lawsuit alleging racial discrimination and retaliation by his former employer. On December 5, 2025, Christopher Gibson lodged the complaint in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas against Austin Bridge & Road, LP. The lawsuit accuses the company of fostering a racially hostile work environment and unlawfully terminating Gibson under false pretenses.

The narrative begins in March 2024 when Gibson interviewed for a driver position with Austin Bridge & Road, LP. During this interview, he was unsettled by an offhand comment from Francisco “Frank” Calvillo, who mentioned having “several black friends,” which Gibson perceived as indicative of racial bias. Despite this uneasy start, Gibson commenced employment on March 25, 2024. However, his tenure was marred by incidents that he believes were racially motivated. For instance, after a minor incident involving company equipment on April 3, 2024, Gibson was reprimanded more harshly than his non-Black colleagues. His trainer at the time faced no repercussions despite directing the maneuver that led to the incident.

Gibson’s complaint details several encounters with Calvillo and other employees that contributed to a hostile work environment. He describes being publicly humiliated during a safety meeting and overhearing derogatory remarks about predominantly Black neighborhoods from coworkers. Furthermore, he alleges that Calvillo repeatedly threatened him with termination under a nonexistent “90-day rule” while allowing Hispanic coworkers to violate similar policies without consequence.

The situation escalated when Gibson reported these issues through the company’s whistleblower hotline. He claims that following his report, Calvillo manipulated his work schedule and restricted his ability to work by falsely claiming mechanical issues with his truck. This culminated in what Gibson describes as retaliatory termination on June 11, 2024.

Despite HR’s investigation confirming Gibson’s allegations and leading to Calvillo’s termination on June 19, 2024, Austin Bridge & Road did not reinstate him or address the discriminatory practices he reported. Instead, HR described Calvillo’s dismissal as mere “damage control.”

Gibson is seeking relief for back pay and front pay losses due to unlawful termination and damages for emotional distress caused by racial harassment and discrimination. He also demands compensatory damages for humiliation and damage to reputation alongside attorney fees incurred during litigation.

Representing Christopher Gibson is W.D. Masterson from Kilgore & Kilgore PLLC based in Dallas, Texas. The case is overseen by Judge D of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas under Case ID: 3:25-cv-03357-D.
