Ericka Hall has taken legal action against a major retail corporation following an unfortunate incident that left her injured. On November 17, 2025, Ericka Hall filed a complaint in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas against Walmart Inc., alleging negligence and seeking damages for injuries sustained on their premises.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on November 18, 2023, when Ericka Hall visited a Walmart store located at 6000 Coit Road in Plano, Texas. As a business invitee and customer, she was shopping for groceries in preparation for Thanksgiving. Upon exiting the store, Hall tripped over what she describes as a defective threshold at the exit door—a hazard that had been present for at least 45 minutes during her time inside the store. This obstruction caused her to fall and drop her groceries. Despite being assisted by three Walmart employees who helped her back to her feet, Hall proceeded to fill out an accident report as advised by the staff.

In her filing, Hall cites a conversation with a female employee who remarked about prior warnings regarding the inadequacy of a mat used to cover the defective threshold. The lawsuit claims that Walmart failed in its duty to maintain safe premises for its customers and neglected necessary repairs or warnings about the hazardous condition. Hall accuses Walmart of several counts of negligence including failing to provide safe premises, neglecting maintenance of the exit pathway, allowing dangerous obstructions without warning customers, and inadequate safety training among staff.

As a result of this alleged negligence, Ericka Hall reports suffering from significant injuries including patellofemoral disorders in both knees requiring ongoing medical treatment from Dr. Eldon Hopkins and Dr. Billy Carmack alongside physical therapy sessions. She seeks compensation for medical expenses, lost wages due to missed work, pain and suffering, mental anguish, and other related damages. Additionally, she requests pre- and post-judgment interest along with court costs.

Representing herself pro se in this matter is Ericka Hall. The case is presided over by Judge O-BK under Case ID 3:25-cv-03138-O-BK.
