In a compelling case of alleged workplace discrimination, a former employee has filed a lawsuit against her previous employer, claiming she faced gender and pregnancy discrimination. Brittany Ovalle lodged the complaint on November 24, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas against Trilogy Senior Living, LLC, operating as Sodalis Senior Living.
Brittany Ovalle, who worked as a Medical Technician at Sodalis Senior Living, asserts that after announcing her pregnancy in early September 2024, she experienced a marked change in treatment from her supervisors. She alleges that within days of her announcement, her supervisors began to micromanage and speak harshly to her. Moreover, Ovalle claims she was unfairly assigned to physically demanding tasks in “B-Hall,” known for its strenuous workload, more frequently than before her pregnancy. These assignments were particularly challenging due to the lack of support from other medical technicians. Ovalle’s repeated complaints about this mistreatment went unaddressed by management.
The complaint details further instances of alleged discrimination and retaliation under both federal and state laws. Ovalle contends that she was subjected to additional duties outside her job description when staffing was inadequate—a responsibility not equally shared among her colleagues. After experiencing pain at work and visiting an emergency room where concerning hCG levels were noted during her pregnancy, Ovalle was temporarily reassigned to lighter duties but soon returned to B-Hall despite medical concerns.
Tragically, less than two weeks after the emergency room visit, Ovalle learned that her baby had no heartbeat. During this emotionally devastating period away from work for medical treatment, she alleges that her supervisor Isabel twice demanded to know when she would return to work. Feeling unsupported and mistreated by management during such a vulnerable time led Ovalle to resign—a decision she describes as constructive discharge due to intolerable working conditions.
Ovalle’s legal action seeks compensation for economic damages including lost wages and benefits due to alleged discriminatory practices by Sodalis Senior Living. She also seeks compensatory damages for emotional distress and punitive damages aimed at deterring future unlawful employment practices by the defendant. Additionally, she requests coverage of attorney fees and litigation costs along with pre-judgment and post-judgment interest.
Representing Brittany Ovalle is attorney Bridget Davidson from Space City Law Firm based in Houston, Texas. The case is filed under Case ID C.A. NO. 6:25-cv-69 with jury trial demands made clear.
