An Oklahoma City woman has been sentenced to federal prison for her role in trafficking methamphetamine in the Eastern District of Texas, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.

Maria Garcia, 59, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and received a sentence of 75 months in federal prison. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant on December 1, 2025.

Court documents revealed that between April 2021 and November 2022, Garcia participated in a drug trafficking organization responsible for distributing large quantities of fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine. These substances were smuggled across the U.S.-Mexico border and stored at locations in Texas before being distributed elsewhere in the United States. Garcia coordinated with individuals in Mexico to receive kilograms of methamphetamine from the organization operating out of Oklahoma.

“This case is part of Operation Take Back America a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime,” according to information provided by authorities.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Wes Wynne.
