An individual from Mexico, identified as Pedro Garcia Lopez, has been sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for reentering the United States illegally after being deported. The announcement was made by United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Ryan Raybould.

Garcia Lopez, aged 45, was indicted in June 2025 and pleaded guilty in September 2025 to returning to the U.S. without authorization following his deportation in 2008. His sentencing took place on February 2, 2026, before United States District Judge Sam Lindsay.

During sentencing, evidence showed that Garcia Lopez’s criminal record began with a burglary conviction in 2008. He later received state convictions for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in both 2018 and 2025. Each of these violent offenses resulted in three-year prison sentences.

Judge Lindsay ordered that Garcia Lopez serve his state and federal sentences consecutively.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Marbel Leonel Munoz.
