A Mexican national has admitted guilt to an immigration violation in the Eastern District of Texas, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Alejandro Uribe-Chavez, 43, residing illegally in Beaumont, pleaded guilty to illegal reentry by a previously deported person before U.S. Magistrate Judge Zack Hawthorn on July 10, 2025.
Court records show that Uribe-Chavez was arrested in Beaumont on unrelated state charges on May 3, 2024. Further investigation uncovered his prior conviction for illegal entry into the United States in the Southern District of Texas and subsequent deportation to Mexico in 2019.
Uribe-Chavez could face up to two years in federal prison and deportation upon sentencing. The maximum statutory sentence is outlined for informational purposes; actual sentencing will be determined by the court based on advisory guidelines and other statutory factors. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled following a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office. Uribe-Chavez also faces unrelated state charges in Jefferson County.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative aimed at addressing illegal immigration and eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators. The operation combines efforts from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Chris Jackson.
