A federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Texas has indicted Omar Galvan-Rodriguez, a 41-year-old Mexican national residing illegally in Jacksonville, for unlawfully returning to the United States after deportation. The indictment states that Galvan-Rodriguez was found in the district on May 9, 2025, following his previous removal from the country.

The announcement was made by Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs for the Eastern District of Texas. According to authorities, this case is part of Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative focused on combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations. The operation consolidates resources from the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).

If convicted, Galvan-Rodriguez could face up to 10 years in federal prison as well as deportation. Homeland Security Investigations is leading the investigation, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Noble is prosecuting the case.

“A federal indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law,” according to the statement.
