A McAllen resident has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine. U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei announced the sentencing of Narciso Dominguez III, who pleaded guilty on March 27.
U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton ordered Dominguez to serve 120 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. The court noted the large quantity of cocaine involved and evidence linking Dominguez to a larger drug trafficking organization.
In May 2024, Dominguez packaged 19 kilograms of cocaine using simple shipping materials like boxes and bubble wrap. Authorities observed him purchasing these materials and surveilled stash houses in McAllen. He admitted knowing the packages contained narcotics.
Authorities later stopped Dominguez and found 43.35 kilograms of cocaine in his possession. A search of a residence in McAllen led to the seizure of an additional 229 kilograms. Dominguez admitted mailing about 100 kilograms of cocaine daily across the United States.
Dominguez will remain in custody until he is transferred to a Federal Bureau of Prisons facility.
The Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Jose A. Garcia prosecuted the case.
