A Liberty County resident has been indicted for firearms possession in the Eastern District of Texas. Jason Reeves, 51, is accused of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.

The indictment states that on November 21, 2025, Reeves was found with a firearm in the Eastern District of Texas. Federal law prohibits individuals with felony convictions from owning or possessing firearms.

If found guilty, Reeves could face up to 15 years in federal prison.

This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and addressing violent crime across communities.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Reynaldo P. Morin is handling the prosecution.

“A federal indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law,” stated the release.
