A Levelland, Texas man was sentenced on March 26 to 60 years in federal prison for producing child sexual abuse material, according to United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Ryan Raybould.

The sentencing highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address crimes involving the exploitation of children and underscores the severe penalties faced by those convicted of such offenses.

Camilo Reyes Castillo, age 47, pleaded guilty in October 2025 to seven counts of production of child pornography. U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix handed down a sentence totaling 720 months in federal prison. According to court documents, agents with the Texas Department of Public Safety began investigating Castillo in early 2025 after learning he was likely producing and trading child sexual abuse material online. Investigators confirmed that Castillo produced and shared sexually explicit content involving young boys.

In June 2025, authorities executed a search warrant at Castillo’s home in Levelland. During questioning, Castillo admitted he “groped” two male children over their clothes and recorded one child while showering. A search of his cell phone revealed about 170 photos and videos containing child pornography in a deleted folder. Among these were seven videos created by Castillo depicting him sexually abusing two boys aged nine and twelve on March 11, 2025. The victims were identified and interviewed; they described instances of abuse by Castillo.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Dallas Field Office (Lubbock Resident Agency) alongside the Texas Department of Public Safety. Assistant U.S. Attorney Callie Woolam prosecuted the case.

This case falls under Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation nationwide through coordinated efforts among federal, state, and local agencies.
