Juan Rojas, a Cuban American and former employee of Lazer Logistics, has filed a lawsuit against the company in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. The complaint alleges discrimination, retaliation, hostile work environment, and wrongful termination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C § 1981, and state law claims under the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act (TCHRA). Rojas claims he faced racial bias and was denied promotion opportunities despite his qualifications. He also accuses Lazer Logistics management of failing to address racial hostility from coworkers and supervisors. The lawsuit seeks damages exceeding $75,000 for lost wages, emotional distress, and punitive damages.
