Johnation Tyler, Jr., a former employee of AmeraProducts, Inc., has filed a lawsuit against the company in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Tyler alleges that he was subjected to persistent racial harassment and discrimination during his employment as a Glazier and Fabricator at the company’s Beaumont facility. The complaint details instances of racial slurs used by supervisors and coworkers, disparate treatment in job opportunities, and eventual termination after Tyler complained about these issues. The lawsuit claims violations under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 1981 of the Civil Rights Act of 1866, and the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act. Tyler seeks damages including backpay, compensatory damages, punitive damages, and attorneys’ fees.
