A Jasper resident has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation in the Eastern District of Texas, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.

David Anthony Piepenburg, age 46, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. On December 1, 2025, U.S. District Judge Amos L. Mazzant sentenced him to 135 months in federal prison.

Court records indicate that starting in 2019, Piepenburg worked with others to distribute and possess at least 500 grams of methamphetamine within the Eastern District of Texas.

The prosecution is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative led by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and addressing violent crime.

The Drug Enforcement Administration conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Rattan prosecuted the case.
