A former NASA employee has filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Houston and several individuals, alleging a malicious prosecution that severely impacted his life. Eric Sim, the plaintiff, claims he was falsely arrested and prosecuted due to fabricated allegations by multiple women he dated. The complaint was filed on February 25, 2026, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas against defendants including the City of Houston and individuals Katelyn Howton, Kirsten Koryciak, Sooyoun Cho, Alejandra Espitia, Mia Morey, and Madelynn Campbell.
Eric Sim’s lawsuit centers around accusations that his constitutional rights were violated under the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments. He asserts that these violations stemmed from false arrest and malicious prosecution facilitated by detectives Howton and Koryciak of the Houston Police Department. According to Sim’s complaint, these officers prepared false probable cause affidavits and tampered with evidence to ensure his arrest. Sim claims that a group of women he had dated conspired to fabricate sexual assault allegations after learning he was not interested in monogamous relationships with them. These women allegedly used their influence to manipulate law enforcement into taking action against him.
The case details a series of consensual relationships between Sim and each woman involved in the allegations. For instance, with Sooyoun Cho, it is stated that they met through a dating app in June 2021 while she was in South Korea. Their relationship continued upon her return to the U.S., with multiple consensual encounters documented through text messages expressing mutual affection. Similar patterns are described with other accusers like Alejandra Espitia and Mia Morey. However, when these relationships did not progress into exclusivity as some women desired, they allegedly sought retribution by accusing Sim of sexual misconduct.
Sim argues that the actions taken by the defendants were part of a larger conspiracy orchestrated by Madelynn Campbell who became aware of Sim’s non-exclusive dating habits. The lawsuit alleges that Campbell rallied other women through social media platforms to file false reports leading to Sim’s arrest on February 29, 2024. Despite having exonerating evidence on his electronic devices proving consensual interactions with these women, this information was allegedly withheld or destroyed by police officers involved in his case.
The legal action seeks compensatory damages for reputational harm, economic losses due to job suspension at NASA (which led to his resignation), emotional distress caused by house arrest conditions including wearing an ankle monitor for months while awaiting trial without just cause based on falsified charges.
Representing Eric Sim are attorneys from Nelson S. Ebaugh P.C., and Offit Kurman P.A., as they pursue justice against what they describe as gross misconduct by public officials and private individuals alike. The presiding judge over this matter is yet unnamed under Case ID: 4:26-cv-01563.
