A former employee has taken legal action against a prominent health network, alleging racial discrimination and retaliation during her tenure. Omolola James filed a complaint on December 3, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas against JPS Health Network – Tarrant County Hospital. The lawsuit accuses the defendant of violating Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and seeks various forms of relief.
Omolola James, an African American woman, began her employment with JPS Health Network on July 24, 2023. She claims that despite being qualified for her role as a Supply Chain Analyst and having no prior disciplinary issues, she faced discriminatory treatment under her supervisor Elizabeth Hall. James alleges that Hall frequently engaged in racially charged behavior, labeling her communication style as “aggressive” due to stereotypes associated with African American women. In one instance documented via email on July 22, 2025, James raised concerns about being referred to as aggressive.
James’s complaint further details how she was denied training opportunities and merit-based raises while white colleagues received such benefits. After filing a Charge of Discrimination with the EEOC on August 29, 2025, she claims that retaliation ensued. On September 2, she received written counseling citing issues with her “tone” and was placed on a performance improvement plan before ultimately being terminated on October 7, 2025.
The plaintiff argues that these actions were retaliatory measures following her EEOC charge and believes there is a causal link between her reporting racial discrimination and subsequent termination. James is seeking actual damages, back pay with interest, attorney’s fees, emotional pain compensation, and punitive damages for what she describes as a campaign of retaliation by JPS Health Network.
