A former employee of a pet grooming salon has taken legal action against her previous employer, alleging serious misconduct and discrimination. On January 24, 2026, Roxana Castillo filed a complaint in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against Top Flight Paw Salon Inc., accusing the company of sex-based discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.

According to the complaint, Castillo began working as a receptionist at Top Flight Paw Salon on July 9, 2025. Despite meeting or exceeding performance expectations, she claims that she was subjected to a hostile work environment from July 14, 2025. The allegations detail inappropriate conduct by Jose, the owner of the salon, who reportedly engaged in unwanted physical contact with Castillo. She repeatedly asked him to stop but alleges that her complaints were ignored by human resources. The situation escalated on July 23 when Jose allegedly grabbed her thigh multiple times after she refused his request to stay longer at work. Shortly thereafter, Castillo was terminated from her position.

Castillo’s lawsuit cites violations under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Illinois Human Rights Act (IHRA), arguing that her termination was not only discriminatory but also retaliatory for reporting harassment. She asserts that despite informing HR about these incidents on multiple occasions, no meaningful action was taken to address or prevent further harassment.

The plaintiff is seeking various forms of relief from the court including back pay with interest, compensatory and punitive damages, and coverage for legal fees. Castillo’s legal team argues that Top Flight Paw Salon acted in willful disregard for her rights as an employee protected under federal and state laws against workplace discrimination and harassment.

Representing Roxana Castillo are attorneys Chad W. Eisenback, Nathan C. Volheim, and Chasidy K. Clark from Sulaiman Law Group Ltd., based in Lombard, Illinois. The case is presided over by judges from the Northern District of Illinois under Case ID: 1:26-cv-00824.
