In a dramatic turn of events, a Texas-based worker has filed a lawsuit against his former employers for alleged violations of federal labor laws. Andrew Jason Arnold initiated the legal action on February 16, 2026, in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division. The defendants named in the complaint are Sal Lallahu Alaihi Wasallam, LLC (SLAW), AKMFNSH Enterprise, Inc., and Akhlaque Hussain.
The lawsuit claims that Arnold was not paid minimum wage or overtime compensation during his employment with the defendants from July 7, 2023, to August 7, 2025. Arnold alleges that he worked as a maintenance worker and carpenter at motels operated by SLAW and AKMFNSH in Houston and Eagle Pass, Texas. Despite working extensive hours due to poor property conditions requiring constant maintenance and repair work, Arnold contends he was compensated only $100 per week. “Defendants failed to pay him at or above the applicable minimum wage for hours worked,” states the complaint.
Arnold’s legal team argues that this conduct is a clear violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which mandates minimum wage and overtime pay for employees engaged in commerce or production of goods for commerce. According to Arnold’s complaint, his duties involved handling materials used commercially in interstate commerce—materials manufactured outside Texas—which qualifies him under FLSA protections. The plaintiff also accuses Akhlaque Hussain of personally managing motel operations and controlling employment terms, making him individually liable for these alleged FLSA violations.
Arnold is seeking $58,089.25 in unpaid minimum wages and $19,259.63 in unpaid overtime compensation. He is also pursuing liquidated damages equal to double these amounts due to what he describes as willful and malicious conduct by his former employers. Additionally, Arnold requests attorneys’ fees and costs associated with bringing this action forward.
Representing Arnold is attorney Peter J. Bober from Bober & Bober P.A., based in Hollywood, Florida. The case has been assigned Case ID 4:26-cv-01236 and awaits further proceedings before a U.S. District Judge.
