A former leader of the Allen Firefighters Association has been sentenced to federal prison for wire fraud, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs for the Eastern District of Texas.

Jeremy Painkin, 42, from Frisco, pleaded guilty to wire fraud charges and received a sentence of 13 months in federal prison. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge Richard Schell on December 3, 2025. In addition to his prison term, Painkin must pay more than $108,000 in restitution.

Court records show that Painkin served as president of the Allen Professional Firefighters Association from 2017 until he resigned in October 2023 after an investigation into the organization’s finances. The investigation found that Painkin used association funds for personal expenses such as clothing, travel, event tickets, fuel, food, and online purchases. After these expenditures were discovered, Painkin tried to hide them by making false statements to other members of the organization.

The FBI investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney William R. Tatum.
