A man with multiple felony convictions has been sentenced to 95 months in federal prison for cocaine trafficking while armed. The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Nancy E. Larson.

Eric Dwayne Ned received his sentence on June 18, 2025, from United States District Judge Ada Brown. He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.

According to court documents, Ned was initially arrested in June 2021 for evading arrest and various charges related to firearms and controlled substances. After being released on bond twice, he was arrested again in March 2022 for similar offenses.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) reviewed his conduct from March 2022 and initiated federal charges. Court records indicate that Ned had prior felony convictions for drug offenses and domestic violence assaults. He also engaged in violent behavior while incarcerated.

The investigation was conducted by ATF, and Assistant U.S. Attorney John Boyle prosecuted the case.
