A federal inmate at the Federal Correctional Complex in Beaumont, Texas, has been indicted for allegedly possessing a prohibited object within the facility. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.

According to the indictment, Robert Anthony Summers, 44, is accused of having a weapon or shank while incarcerated at the prison. The charge was returned by a federal grand jury in the Eastern District of Texas earlier this week.

If found guilty, Summers could face up to five years in federal prison.

The Bureau of Prisons is handling the investigation into this matter. Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell James is prosecuting the case.

“A federal indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law,” stated officials.
