The Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program announced on Mar. 27 that it will offer free virtual and in-person legal clinics for eligible residents of Dallas County throughout April.

The program is a collaboration between the Dallas Bar Association, Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, and local lawyers. The initiative aims to provide access to legal services for those who may not otherwise be able to afford them.

Virtual clinics are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on several Thursdays in April, with participation from organizations such as St. Mary’s University School of Law, Hunton Andrews Kurth, Haynes and Boone, Capital One, DLA Piper, and McGuireWoods. In-person clinics will also take place at various locations across Dallas including the VA Medical Center, Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, Grace United Methodist Church, and West Dallas Multipurpose Center.

For those interested in attending a virtual clinic, the program requests that residents apply through an online form at https://tinyurl.com/DVAPClinic. After submitting the form, applicants should expect a call from an attorney using an unknown or “No Caller ID” number.

Additional information about the legal clinics can be found at dallasvolunteerattorneyprogram.org. For ongoing free legal assistance outside clinic dates, individuals can contact the Dallas Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Service at DallasLRS.org.
