A Dallas man and his son have been sentenced to federal prison for their involvement in a methamphetamine trafficking operation, according to an announcement from Acting U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs for the Eastern District of Texas.

David Valdez, 45, and Abel Valdez, 28, both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Each received a sentence of 324 months in federal prison. Abel Valdez was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on October 21, 2025, while David Valdez was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Amos Mazzant on November 12, 2025.

Court records showed that between September 2023 and February 2024, the two were responsible for moving about 80 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine per month into the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The drugs were processed at their residence before being distributed locally. On February 8, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant at their home and found 69 kilograms of methamphetamine along with eleven semi-automatic weapons.

“This case is part of Operation Take Back America a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime,” according to officials.

The investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration – Dallas Division and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Anderson.
