The United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas announced on April 24 a new amendment to its procedures for managing patent cases in the Dallas Division. The updated guidance, known as Miscellaneous Order #62, was signed on April 23.

This order introduces revised protocols aimed at improving how patent litigation is handled within the division. The changes are intended to streamline case management and clarify expectations for parties involved in these complex legal disputes.

The order includes several appendices and exhibits that set out detailed procedures. Appendix A provides a standard protective order, while Appendix B contains a model order regarding electronic discovery in patent cases. Appendix C focuses on narrowing down patent claims and prior art to help expedite proceedings. Additionally, Exhibit A offers a confidentiality agreement template for expert consultants or employees of any party, and Exhibit B supplies a similar agreement for third-party vendors.

These documents are made available in Microsoft Word format to facilitate their use by attorneys and parties engaged in litigation before the court.

The introduction of this amended procedure reflects ongoing efforts by the court to ensure efficient handling of intellectual property matters and provide clear guidelines for all participants.
