A man from Beaumont, Texas, has been indicted on a federal firearms charge in the Eastern District of Texas. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Terrance Von Spain, 46, is accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to an indictment returned by a federal grand jury this week. If found guilty, Spain could face up to 15 years in federal prison.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative led by the Department of Justice that focuses on combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and addressing violent crime in communities across the country.
The investigation is being conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives along with the Beaumont Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell James is prosecuting the case.
“A federal indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law,” stated the press release.
