Arubala Reddy, a faculty member at Texas Tech University, has filed a lawsuit against the university and several of its administrators in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. The complaint alleges discrimination based on race, national origin, sex, and retaliation under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Dr. Reddy claims she faced a hostile work environment and was denied control over her research grants due to her status as a darker-skinned Indian woman. Despite her contributions to securing significant grant funding and publishing numerous research articles, she alleges that she was subjected to investigations and ultimately issued a notice of non-reappointment. The lawsuit seeks damages for back pay, reinstatement or front pay, compensatory damages, and other relief.
